I instantly think of this truck: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...t=toyota+Trail It's not mine, but something about it back in those days of RCC made it stick out to me. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3253/...3acca2.jpg?v=0 |
Whoa! That thing is awesome looking "thumbsup" It has an old school look to it. |
Well, i though i would try my hand at them, so here is what i came up with. http://a4.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...8a341e52/l.jpg This is the basic frame work of the boat sides. http://a1.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...a65d2b32/l.jpg Here i cut a piece of 7/16'' delrin that i have lying around. I drilled it for the screws to mount to the alum sides. http://a4.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...ec2b7565/l.jpg Here they are all screwed together. http://a2.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...8dd8f902/l.jpg http://a1.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...21df9382/l.jpg Next will be mounted to the frame . |
I like the idea of the Delrin rod, pretty cool!"thumbsup" |
These are pretty mild, top of frame to bottom. I will post w body on tonight. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...-12-33_755.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...-56-40_703.jpg |

Boat sides Here are the B S mounted to the chassis. http://a2.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...afd13a17/l.jpg http://a4.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...f812d7ad/l.jpg http://a1.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...a46ebb6d/l.jpg The delrin helps blend it into the lines of the body. http://a2.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...ef36e32e/l.jpg http://a1.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...aa45517f/l.jpg http://a4.l3-images.myspacecdn.com/i...304ea978/l.jpg All i can say, is i think they came out pretty good. A little fine tuning and they will look much better. I'll test them out this Sunday and report. |
Might I suggest tapering the ends of the delrin rod, so it looks like it turns back into the body. Basically rounding the edges, should hang up less too. Or, if you made it a little longer, you could blend it into the fender flares. |
