Default DIY topper?

Any fabrication tips working with Delrin sheet to make a bodiless top? Is .090" the best thickness? Cut out with saber saw or is there a better way? Would like your been-there-done-that's to give me a good chance of getting it right the first time. I've seen some pictures of home-builts that looked kinda hacked. I'd like to do better.

Some one must have cut their own delrin topper? It sounds so easy.

I just got excited about doing my own chassis. Maybe you can find some help or tips in my XR10 thread.

See post #22 for the method I'm using.

Default Lexan topper

I made this one out of lexan...haven't used Delrin yet. It was pretty easy to do though. Good luck

Xlnt. Nice detail on the method and it looks like you got a very nice result. I had been thinking Dremel, but I can see the advantages of a router.

I only did a quick read...are those pieces "as routed" or did you have to sand or polish the edges?

I'm afraid it takes a lot of work to get as clean a result using a Dremel. But of course you can cut out a set of chassis plates with a Dremel also.

They are nearly "as routed". I just deburred the edges here and there with 400 grit sand paper. Didn't take me more than half a minute.
