Default What finish is used on most Delrin chassis'?

I'm wondering how the matt finish is achieved found on most black delrin chassis' on the market today. Delrin sheet has a shiny finish when you buy it. Are the manufacturers sand blasting their Delrin chassis' or what do they do?

I think I found the answer to my question. It must be a result of some sort of deburring tumbler, am I right?

Lightly rubbing a piece of delrin with a scotchbrite pad will give you a nice flat finish. You can buy "fine" or "coarse" scotchbrite pads that will give a slightly different texture. Nice thing about scotchbrite is one or two passes over a part removes all the sharp edges, removes any light blemishes and leaves a nice uniform finish.

CDW uses an orbital sander with a 220 grit pad, then it gets wiped down with WD-40. makes for a very nice uniform matte finish.

Like any plastic, when you sand it, the "dust" can stay on the surface. Washing the parts with warm soapy water or wiping them off with a lightly oiled rag is a must IMO.

been sanding mine with a random orbit sander as well, really like the finish, and with some of the 1/4" if been getting from mcmaster lately, its a must on the skids at least.

Media blast makes a nice unique finish. Both pieces of delrin are the same the one on the bottom has just been blasted.

The pictured piece was thrown into my glass blasting cabinet filled with silicon carbide and shot for a second or 2. Way aggressive for plastic but I was just showing a sample of what you can do. If I had a lot to blast I would use some fine aluminum oxide.
