Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? Post a pic I love seeing paint disasters lol |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? I didn't have much luck with the brake fluid. DOT4. I soaked the thing for days, scrubbed for hrs, soaked, scrubbed, soaked... gave up and painted the outside black. I had put several coats of Pactra on. It did work in a few areas but I was not happy with the results... at all. |

I've cleaned and repainted 2 bodies with the brake fluid method. Both worked great! If it is a really thick layer of paint, it will most definitely take time to dissolve the layer. Both bodies that I did were relatively light coats of paint for a Touring Car body. I used a 3m scrub pad and liberal amounts of brake fluid and it came off with ease. If there are a lot of nooks and crannies in the body, it will be more difficult to get all the paint out. Heres a body that I just recently repainted using the brake fluid cleaning method. The body was all white previously. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...f/5190853d.jpg |

I'd save the coin and buy a new body. I'm sure that body is still available out there. |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? Keep that body like that... Use the body.. Be... Different.:ror: |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? ^^lol what sucks is he lost the decals so i cant even paint over it and decal it, well thanks guys for the help :D |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? perfect basher body, looks good. |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? Man that's a great paint job. Can u drive the car and drink Coors original at the same time.haha |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? BReak cleaner but be careful theres some kinds that will melt the lexan.... depending how much $ the body is i never gave much to it , if it was a 20$ lexan i often just bought a new one cause i didn't have 3hrs to spend on only removing paint ..... + sometimes... it will leave a residue.... so you end up painting it 2 times and it still looks aweful ... waterbased paints (faskolor createx) are more forgiving though :) |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? Paint the outside. |
Re: Lexan Shell Paint Disaster, Paint Removal? I would love to just coat the outside and literally be a rolling scratch off ticket, but like I said he didn't have the decals I think its a parma body |
