Default solid color Jeep JK...

I keep seeing JKs locally that are painted a solid color - flares and all. I'm getting ready to build a JK for myself and can't decide what color to paint it.

What are your thoughts on the solid color (sahara, artic editions, etc.)?

I couldnt decide to paint mine body color or not either when I started my build. I ended up painting them black, I figured it would look more like a trail Jeep. I haven't seen too many Sahara's on the trail. I think either way would look good though. Actually I ended up totally cutting them off in the end and did "tubed fenders" and I REALLY like the looks of that. I have seen a few builds where they cut the flares to look like flat fenders that looked good too.

Mine black

Mine w/ tubes(not painted ye)

Do a search for the artic edition...I've seen a pure white (flares and all) and a steele blue (silver blue) that's painted in the same fashion.

Locally I've also seen one that's more of a sunset orange metallic (GM color) that's all one color.

This is the color I'm thinking of - I think Jeep refers to it as a Sunburst Orange or something like that but the ones I've seen have the matching roof, mirrors and all.

SOM WS6 =

I didn't say exact...just close...at least closer than construction come orange, lol.

On a side note, I saw a JK last night that was all silver...thought it was a Benz gwagon at first glance.

I wonder what it might look like if you shot it all in the charcoal grey, but gave the roof and flares a matte finish. I don't know, might not look right. Just a thought.

Charcoal gray looks nice. Who makes the color though? Pactra? Tamiya? And is it spray or airbrush? Polycarb?

I am going to try a duplicolor wheel paint from advance auto...says it can be used on all types of materials, plastics (hubcaps) included. I plan on starting with the removable section of roof first so if it doesn't work I haven't screwed up the whole body. I've used the same paint on a set of tamiya hummer wheels and they came out great!
