Default Why are New Bright bodies so expensive now?

I was looking on Ebay and there are several Jeep bodies listed for around $175 (body only). I thought these things were only $39.99 for the entire toy at Target? They still had them a few weeks ago when I was in there so I don't get it. Is this a different body that people are buying or something? The toy RC's they had at Target were 1/10 scale and had the fake mud and all that on the body.

Cause people are stupid and they think that they are worth more than the complete rig itself just because it is scale. And there are actually stupid enough people to buy them.

The ones you see at $100 and above are the 1/6th scale, and they are so much money because people are paying that much, go figure! A little over a year ago you could pick them up for $40 to $50 I think they sold for $59 to $79 when new in the store.

It all comes down to supply and demand.

If it's harder to get people will pay for it, just like the hard body Toyota land Cruiser, from Ashimo I think it was, those go for close to $200 if you can find them.

I have found several bodies at yard sales and flea markets. You just got to take the time to look. Most of them were on broken trucks with missing controllers. I hold onto them for future builds. I have no plans to sell them for way more than they are worth.

The sad part about people paying way too much is the lazy factor. They've gotten used to finding stuff on eBay instead of doing a little footwork (Funny. I'm disabled. Doesn't really apply.) in the real world. I suppose you could say they're paying for convenience. EG: I physically checked several locations of "The Source" (Canadian replacement for Radio Shack) and found New Bright 1:8 scale Silverados for $49-$79. When I checked eBay for the same thing, there were guys selling the chassis for $20 and the body for $150+. The same rule applies across the board. Stupid people will flock to the easiest, most convenient source first. Suckers.

If people are lazy and stupid, that's the price for admission.

I'm just surprised new bright's stupid enough to have not realized this is going on, and that rccrawlers use their body for scale builds. They've got to be hiding under a rock, other wise they'd bag the POS toy rc crap and market scale bodies to us.

Folks on Ebay are selling these as "scale truck bodies" now, and simple supply-and-demand is making it possible for them to ask what they are asking because you guys keep paying it, period. If you'd quit buying them at inflated prices, they'll be stuck with them and the price will drop. It's how retail works.

Y'all are looking in the wrong place for these. Stay off of Ebay

Ask where they retail these if there are returned defective units that the bodies can be robbed off of (Wal-Mart, Rat Shack, etc.)

Keep tabs on your local Goodwill.

Pay attention when passing yard/garage sales.

And since when did being a Capitalist become a BAD thing anyway??

I've bought and sold several of these body's and this is what I see happening.
Radio Shack use to get in RC's close to Christmas time and always got the larger 1/10th and 1/8th scale New Bright Jeep's. Once Christmas was over Radio Shack would clearence there toys and you would see these body's for sale everywhere. About the time October rolls around these bodys would start getting harder to find due to the fact that most that were bought to resell have been resold already so finding one got harder and those still with them saw this so the prices went up and stayed around the $100 mark till Radio Shack stocked back up for the following Christmas season. Then there everywhere again so the prices came back down and one could be had for around $50-60. BUT last year Radio Shack did not get these in so whats out there on the market now is slowly drying up and at the same time the price is going thru the roof.
