Default any special steps to paint derlin?

i'm using derlin for the bed of my 6x6 and i want to paint it with a rubber sealant spray paint to give it the look of a bedliner. i was just going to take some sandpaper to the derlin then paint it. will this work?

I used this MicroPrep on some MTHead delrin rings. It worked but they were headlock rings so the paint didn't stay on too long.

MicroPrep: Microscale Decals
