Default New SCX Jeep Body Protection

Hey guys and gals,
With the introduction of the new Jeep JK from Axial, we thought you all might like some scale protection. We are planning on making rear corner guards, both shorty version, full version, and comp cut versions. Rocker guards, roof panels, and also tub guards. The tub guards are small pieces that go right behind the front fender between the door and fender, where the JEEP logo is located. They will bolt on with 0-80 hardware helping add to the scale realism. They will be offered in thin gauge sheet metal, thin gauge plain aluminum, and scale aluminum diamond plate.
Here are some pics taken from GenRight offroad for those that are unfamiliar with the products we will be making.

Can't wait to get started!!

Here is an example using the 0-80 hardware.

Awesome products that you are gonna be offering. I could give everyone a helping hand on powdercoating these panels to give your rig that custom realistic look will take the beating a lot better than a spray bomb...

All the material and hardware will be here this week. Just be waiting on the release of the truck. Axial isn't going to hook any of the smaller vendors up with pre lease stuff, so first to get a body and cage to me gets free product. Norm(team3six) has already agreed to send me his if he gets it before me.

All material and hardware is now in stock. Here is an example of the diamond plate aluminum.

Shown with a 3mm screw for size reference

Also, if you have a body that you would currently like armor panels for, let me know. We can make them for anything.

All of my stuff will be the flat panels for the body, no tubing. You can get the steel versions and braze to them though. I have been talking with BGR Fab and I'm gonna let him handle the tube work for them. I just don't have time.

Body will be here first of the week. Roof skins and rear corner protection will be the first panels available. Depending on how the cage is designed, there may be several different roof options.

I made the template for the rear side panels but haven't been able to devote any time to the project lately.

It's a busy time of year and I have also been trying to get my sons new rig finished for Christmas and have been designing 1:1 rear quarters for the Jeep Cherokee. It may be January before in an really get some time to work on this project.

Panels will be coming in January. Working on roof skins tomorrow and the sides will also be part of a joint effort with another vendor on bringing his 1:1 companies products for the JK to the scale world.
Stay Tuned!!!

Very cool! Does the rear fenders bolt over the pannels or do the pannels go around the fenders? Keep up the great work

They slip under the flares providing a clamping surface there and will have the scale hardware also for added security and looks. The taillight is all that needs to be removed for installation, which also helps hold once reinstalled.

I'm trying guys. Been crazy busy at my day job and finishing up a couple custom builds for customers. Sending a proto set to BGR this week for him to test fit with his Gen-Right tire carrier reproductions.
One of my concerns right now is being able to make a profitable product with the scale hardware. I'm not setup or have access to having the panels made with the holes pre cut since the holes are so small, which leaves me hand drilling them all.
Other than that, I'm a couple weeks out from having my mind up as to where I'll go with these.
The Twin Hammers rig also has me distracted and excited at the moment.
