Default Hard body paint?

Ive got some enamel paint to airbrush my first hard body. Is it necessary to scuff the body before i paint it?

Ive only painted 5 hardbodies but have always stripped the original paint with a mix of thinners and sanding. I remove the old paint to give the new coat a good base to stick too. Getting rid of the original paint also allows you to fix some of the imperfections in the hardbody as well. May not be the "preferred" way but its worked for me

As a 1:1 and scale painter yes ,I sand or scuff everything I paint , I have skipped this a couple times and it always bites me in the ass later.
