I used Easy Off... it took off most of the paint but seemed to leave the Lexan real weak... fragile... wont do it again... just my 2 cents...

I found that out the hard way and ended up painting the outside of a rubi body and it actually looked ok. Then I didn't paint another body for a year and my C-10 started to look like crap. Well guess what I forgot about. $%^%!

I hope everyone is Stripping paint off bodies only if they missed up in painting it. That seems like a lot of work just to repaint a old beat up body.

3-DOT brake fluid like used in your car.
1. Will remove all paints even silver.
2. Will not fog the lexan or melt it or anything else.
3. It's CHEAP!

Here's how:
Get eye protection!
1. Pour some brake fluid in the body.
2. Take a rag and smear it around so everything has a nice thick coat.
3. Watch TV for like 5 - 10 min, time varies on thickness of paint.
4. Wipe the paint off.
5. Repeat process till the paint is gone, use a tooth brush or Q-tip for tight areas.
6. The body will be just as clear as it was new, (except the scratches from wrecking it).
7. Wash the body with your choice of soap and warm water.
8. Scuff it with a green scrub pad, wash, dry, and paint!

I've used this method on old and new bodies. From 1:8 scale to the Micro-t bodies.

Before:

After:

Also for those who wondered how I got a purple Micro-T, LOL.

Does ordinary paint thinner ruin the lexan?

I've gotta big utility sink downstairs in my laundry room, is it safe to put brake fluid down the pipes or does that stuff need to be done outside?

If you have something that will fit the body in you could just use that and remove the paint like stated in the other posts and then take the used brake fluid to you municipal recycling yard.

I'm not sure if you can dump that stuff down sanitary drains.

ideally all of these chemicals should be disposed of properly! ie hazardous / chemical waste dept at local dumping facility.

-quote "my dump is like 80 miles away!! am i suppoesed to go everytime i gotta get rid of a little oil?"
doing the right thing isn't always easiest, and pour into a larger container and dump when full. also take ALL your toxic **** to dump at the same time! tires, batteries, printers, monitors, oils, paints etc etc.
my 2.....4 and 6 sense.

gonna try brake fluid tonight to clean some old bodies....
thanks guys!!

Does this still apply to water based paints like Parma Faskolor? or is there a different method recommended for this?

Sorry if it's a newb question, but I'm still a newb.

Nitro wash and Brake cleaner are one in the same. You can buy brake cleaner at Walmart, Meijer, or any auto parts store. Alot cheaper than Nitro wash.
