stripping paint from lexan
 

since some people didnt know that you can "clean" paint from lexan. I found a thread on another forum. So Here :disclaimer I did not write:

Take an old shirt or rag, spray body blast onto body, scrub until clean

Found this stuff while making my last Tower order and I am taking the paint off of a Bolink El Camino body that has been sitting for over 5 months, comes out crystal clear!

The Body Blast took every spec of paint off of the body, inside and outside. This stuff works great but takes some scrubbing. The body wasnt foggy anywhere! It was clearer than when I bought it!

However, if you do use it to strip a body, I would suggest washing the body out again, to remove anything left inside the body after stripping the paint.

Q-does it leave any residue that may make repainting more difficult?
A-None at all, I stripped that body completely, then repainted it and it looks better than the first time...

awsome!! now i can repaint my fj40 body :-P

it wont work if has flakes in it.... meaning a color like sliver doesnt really come off.

Does it affect the masks? did it wreck those ones on the camino?

just get a new body!

new bodies don't have the, shall we say, patina as the old ones do. It's not your money we're saving anyway.

What about acetone? Or will that take the plastic with the paint?

ok cool, thanks because i bought a bolink pro stock drag car about 1 month ago and it is a lexan body and he painted on the inside and then he rolled it when he was driving it and thought how can i cover it up so i can sell it so he got like house paint and painted from the out side so will brake fluid get the house paint off and the paint on the inside.

acetone will whiten the lexan ... ugly ... just tested it on some scraps to see for my self. brakefluid didnt work on my dodge ram body ... it couldnt dissolve the blue metallic paint.

would love to try more stuffs i've read here in the site but my problem is they arent available in my location, we dont have paypal yet too. :neutral:

Try "Easy Off" oven cleaner, yellow top only, works pretty good. I tried it on an old body painted with Pactra paint. Spray it on, let it sit for a little, use a stiff brush to get in the corners and rinse. Doesn't fog the lexan, but be sure to have some ventilation. I also read you can use it to remove anodizing, but haven't tried yet.

Well I strip a cj body this weekend and use the brake fluid, it works soo much faster and better then Trinity Body blast. It was alot cleaner then body blast too and cheaper, did what Rick did and use a a tooth brush and let it sit for few mins. Started to peel off. One thing though is dont let it sit too long or it start eating at the lexan !! just hose it off to get the most the crap off. Went inside and use hot water and soap to clean it up and get the fluid off. Oh yeah if you have stickers on the body it wont harm them.

Theres stuff called "ELO" (Easy Lift off) that works VERY well. It also takes about half the time as break cleaner or nitro blast. You wont need to scrub it with a brush like the other stuff. Just pour it on, spread it around, let sit about 15 minutes come back and wipe clean. No fog at all either.. Good stuff.

citri-strip from walmart works really well and it doesnt harm the body at all.

As anyone figured a way to remove Paints with flakes and pearls yet?

i am currently using brake fluid to remove paint from one my shells and it is backed by silver metalic paint. i soaked it for about 3 hours and washed it all off and most of it is peeling off. "thumbsup" next is the disco'd bodies"thumbsup"
