Straight bleach works well for removing chrome as well, usually just wash the parts with soap and water and good to go lol.

Appreciate the tip J, but the smell of bleach makes me sick. Last night I got the chrome of the big piece with sand paper but used a 220 then 500 so its still smooth. For the rest I will probably go with Stangs suggestion.

heres how to do it. theres probly a better way out there, but this is how i do it i should say
get a zip lock bag or sandwich bag. the thinner the better. spray the inside with purple power, coating all the sides. then spray your pieces too. put them in the bag. makeing sure the surface you want to de chrome is touching/sticking to the side of the wet bag. the surfaces must touch to keep the purple power on the chrome part. or it will just all run to the bottom of the bag.
leave the parts in the bag for 1 hour to 1 day. depends on the part. i know tamiya parts are pretty fast. other brands take longer.
the wet bag side touching the chrome surface is key.

here is my tundra grill i did. you can see it almost looks painted gloss black. this is untouched after dechroming, just raw plastic.

hope this helps everyone

That does look great. Maybe I will do that to my other H2 grill.

Oh I understand that, I only suggested it cause most everyone has bleach in their home already. By the way the red looks sharp on the Hummer!

I've used brake fluid to strip chrome before as well.

Does the brake fluid work quickly, say apply it and let it set for an hour? Or does it need to sit overnight?
