Aluminium vs Alloy Steel Screws

Hey All,

Not sure if this is the right area for this question, but since it relates to my chassis I thought it'd be ok.

I'm currently looking at getting some spare hardware (m3 screws) for my chassis and i found a great price for a reasonable qty of screws in different sizes, but in alloy steel (black).

my question is, whats the weight difference between aluminium screws and alloy steel screws? surely due to the size of the screws m3 ranging between 8mm and 25mm, there can't be a massive difference in weight when comparing the two metals, can there?

I know weight is of importance, so i'm trying to justify the cost of switching to alu over steel screws.

anyway, i'm looking forward to your thoughts and experiences.

I've had excellent results with the aluminum screws from Fastener Express. I've only had a handful strip or break. However, I mostly only use them where they thread into plastic or have a nut on the back and I NEVER use loctite on them.
