Default Where to buy Toyots Hi-Lux bodies??

Do I just have to source them from the Tamiya trucks, or is someone reproducing them??

You can buy them from anyone that sells tamiya replacement parts since that are available separate. Rc4wd also sells a very similar version.

The Mojave hilux body comes available in 3 different kit forms...

Yellow
Primer (yellow)
White

the cost to purchase those start at around $ 100.
and goes up progressively to $ 110. for the white styrene.
^ well... last I checked.

The only real differences between the Mojave and Tamiya Hi-Lux is...

Cost = (the Tamiya will cost nearly double to that of the Mojave)
Licensing = (Tamiya has auth./Lic... the RC4WD Mojave does not)
"TOYOTA" embossed tailgate = (Hilux/yes - Mojave/no)
Drop bed = (Hi-Lux/no - Mojave/yes)
Headlamp Assembly = (Hi-Lux round lamps - Mojave square lamps)

Interestingly... both bodies can share/swap parts.

ie: Don't like the square headlamps on the Mojave !?
The Tamiya Hi-Lux grille can be swapped in. (or visa/versa)

I have the Mojave body.
I prefer the Mojave's drop bed...
over the Tamiya Hi-Lux's tail gate molding.

and the Mojave's lower buy in.

When you combine parts of each the result is fantastic!

oops...

forgot to comment about options

The Mojave kit comes with two options
regarding the cab's rear firewall and window.

partial
= (w window flush to bedrail - cab bolted to bed)
full = (w window + full coverage rear cab wall)

this option allows the cab to be mounted independently
with or without mounting the bed.

a big plus if mounting to a tuber

not saying you can't scratch build one for the Tamiya Hi-lux body...
Many have... and with amazing results.

But all said...

the RC4WD Mojave body kit offers more options...
and did I say costs less !?

If it were critical to display the mfgr's namesake...
I think one could adhere some styrene pieces correctly
to spell out TOYOTA

or just slap on some vinyl stickers and call it a day

^ RC4WD sells those too !
