| T2W's Hardbody on a TH - pic heavy
I started a thread for my overall build in the twin hammers section, but have learned quickly how useful it can be to ask questions regarding the work I'm doing since I'm totally new to rc trucks of this level and have never worked with styrene (I have had some scale model building experience in the past however) she only looked like this for 10 minutes tops before I was pulling off panels here's the panels I cut for a quick custom look I called a local sign shop and asked if the had scrap styrene, the guy said to come on in and gave me all this for free, all types of thicknesses getting started on the templates I use toothpicks in the screw holes to hold the templates in place Time to start cutting styrene slowly coming together, time to plastruct the roof and sides together, I will be adding a grill sometime soonish I gotta go to work now, so posting will be on hold for a while unless I get to it a bit on my break |

Means a lot coming from you Hoosier, I was inspired from the work you post on these forums I'm not sure the thicknesses exactly because I didn't buy it or care to measure. But I would guess between 1.5 and 2 mm for outer body work and maybe .3 mm for the reinforcements update on the body too…I got it all connected tonight!!!!!!!!!!!:mrgr een: but first look at that smooooooooth hood, still deciding how to do the grill, suggestions are more than welcome I'm really digging using an iron for straight bends, just gotta get the feel for it with parchment paper in between, check out the 90* on this back panel, and my dog Genna makes a cameo heres the back taped together to make sure it fit the cage measuring the cuts to make the hood fit to the sides, it still requires some bending tho Again, I really recommend trying an iron for styrene bends. Quick tip, use a table/cutting board/piece of lumber/metal/whatever is the angle you like edge All panels are now one and heres some back bumper work, its gonna bend around the back edges nicely, it's also very strong Last edited by three2won; 01-09-2014 at 09:45 PM. |

mwahahahahahaha! the panels have now become a body!!! but first the bumper is now on and helping to reinforce the back and heres the body next to the cage time for a closeup, I still have lots of filling and sanding and obviously I had to take some pics of her all back together I think there's going to be enough clearance for some trail running and one more money shot for good measure this thing has taught me a lot, I might be making another one of these, but there is still a ton of work to do on this one before I can call it done edit:just realized I didn't take any shots with the tire on, I'll try to make sure to get one up soon Last edited by three2won; 01-12-2014 at 07:45 AM. |

I noticed early on there were some extra screw holes near the top and bottom of the windows and I had this mesh plastic screen from Michaels, they are out of black but I like how the white turned out, then with some scores from my LHS I had new windows top ones are hard to reach these bendy things are awesome for tight spots Ta-da body filler on the rear bumper and sanded detail time I also picked up a Losi micro trekker the other day for some scale fun, I'm looking for a jeep body and in the meantime started a custom, I'm not being that careful and I refuse to use an body filler on it. I've since taken off the Losi stickers, clipped some springs, ordered micro super swampers (as well as 1.9s for my TH) and put an ID retractor as a winch |
