Default how strong is styrene?

hi all!
ive seen many people building custom bodies for their scale rigs, and im wondering how strong they actually are. would anyone know what the longevity of a styrene body used on a trail rig. just using the truck normally . dirt trails mud and possibly rocks and stream crossings?
thanks!

All depends on the thickness of styrene you use. A lot of the hard bodies on rigs are styrene and can handle a beating pretty good. Read hooiserdaddys stickied thread at top of this section for glue and you'll be alright.

If you drive the truck in a very scale manner they will last next to forever. If you trucks take a lot of tumbles and/or you jump it you will break things like the A pillar.

was wondering this myself the other, when a friend showed me his man 6x6 project in the making
and he plans to take it with us to our crawling days on the rocks for some harsh climbs...

I've been working on a custom hardbody for my twin hammers made entirely out of styrene and it just keeps getting stronger with every body panel connection, I also back the connections with s thin piece of styrene as well as use plastruct and E6000

SOOOOOO MUCH work left

Brace it, protect the edges/corners. Obviously your paint will show more wear and tear than a lexan body in a hurry.

Ive thought about this as well. Not a whole lot of really scale bodies out there. Little to no options if you wanna do a dodge . Been wanting to do a Dodge power wagon "macho wagon" for a long time. I use to do models years ago. If your rig has a roll cage i would hold up a lot better i think. Less roof damage. If you start one get it on here ide love to see how your doing it.
