It will all depend on what you are building or making. You will need pretty much all the standard sizes .060 is pretty standard for the main body ( very close to tamiya body thickness) I use .040 for reinforcing , .030 ,.020, .010 etc for detail work and layering. Rounds, half moons, tubes solid rod etc all have different uses and so there's no one size that will fit all areas. I've used all the above on my current project and it's not even finished yet.

If you are looking for good depictions on some uses look at vids for static modeling or railroad modeling, they will use ten times what we do in rc bodies so you can get a better understanding of what's available, how to form it, etc. or take a look through the scale accessory section at the garage builds there's some outstanding work in there that will keep your head spinning and ideas flowing.

Ive also got a huge various pile of styrene and love to build. My hardest thing was finding a glue i liked to work with. I bought 5 different types and tried them all out. You may have to experiment.

Dont forget a can of body filler from the auto part store.
