Default 3D Printed Early Bronco Grill

I have the HPI '73 Bronco body and I always thought the Sticker for the grill was lacking in detail so I thought why not try to print one with a 3D printer. So I bought the Solidworks CAD program and tought myself a few basic skills and I was off creating what I could with it. Here is what I have so far. I plan on cutting out the Lexan grill and mounting the 3D grill to the Chassis. I will attempt the first print on Monday. Let me know what you think.

With the material commonly used for 3D printing, the inner grill is going to be very fragile...I would recommend a solid back on the grill instead of a see through grill.

Aside from that, I think its cool!!

Here is my first run of the grill after I sanded. I think I tried to go with too much detail work with the grill strips that coincide with the headlights. My next version will be with the headlight bezel and buckets a separate assembly. I had Ford across the front but it printed funky so I sanded it flat. I will add it later.
Enjoy,
Darrell

It's made out of ABS plastic and it's pretty tough for how thin it is. No, you may not be able to go bashing your truck with it but, you also don't go bashing your 1:1 truck to the point you bash your grill in. That's what my son's wraith is for

It is still in the prototype stage. I am brainstorming better designs on my 3 D CAD program. Also working on rear light buckets. Ideally I want to be able to cut out the lights on the lexan body and just drop in the light bucket.

That grill definitely puts the decal to shame. When I first got in this hobby, I was told a Dremel would the most expensive tool I would need. Obviously, that person forgot about the CAD software and the 3D printer, the lathe, drill press and TIG welder (the last 3 were for Harley if he's reading this).
