Good write up.

Sorry to hear about your friend Andy. I also had a friend/boss named Andy that took his life as well.

My way to apply traces of aging and weathering is to take acrylic paint, brush rough brush strokes on the body and RUB it with a wet sponge. It's pretty simple and the end result I really like))

And my way of applying rust. The place where do the rust, apply a bit of brown paint Tamiya acrylic. And on top of the already trimmed brush apply pigments, pre-mixing them into the desired color. Then to consolidate the result-cover with a transparent matte varnish from the spray.

Adding the dry pigments really gives it a texture/flaky appearance just like the real thing. Nicely done Sir!

That looks excellent, I am definitely going to have to weather my Comanche build like that once it's ready.

I am building my first crawler and coming from typically running primarily racing buggies. All the bodies I painted usually the goal is to make them as nice and shiny as I can, but seeing these techniques and now building my first crawler suddenly shiny and new looking doesn't sound like my only option!

Love the talent I see here!
