Lexan body repair
 

I have a lexan body I'm going to try and refurbish and it has a ton of scratches, I had the idea to wet sand the rough spots and paint a clear coat of them but after thinking about it some more it seem as if the clear coat may crack over time being that lexan is flexible. If any one has any experience with fixing used bodies could you tell me what the best process is for getting out scratches on lexan bodies. Also dose anyone know if I have to strip the paint off when I use goop or E3000 glue and mesh to fix splits and cracks in the body, I may wish I had stuck with my hard shell body before its all over with :shock: ........ I just had to have it :mrgreen:

Have you considered just repainting the outside? Once they are gouged its pretty hard to find something to fill it with. With Goop it will be fine just don't stress it to much (don't stir it into the paint) just set it on top.

Actually no I haven't considered that, do I need lexan paint to do that or can I just use the regular hobby paint that's meant for hard plastic

You'll have to use lexan paint for the best long term results. It will never be near as glossy as there is no clear. However, its good on a older truck as it gives it the look of aged patina. The other option may be to wet sand it and polish it. Its just polycarbonate plastic maybe one of those kits that polish car headlights would bring it back to a high luster. The easiest way is just to buy another body keep the new one for the shelf and the old one for the trail.

Thanks for the tips, I really wish I could find a newer body like the used on I picked up, unfortunately its been out of production for years. Its going to be a little summer time project.
