Default Lexan Sheets?

Where does everyone get their lexan sheets? Are there any good/ cost effective alternatives?

Thanks!

Try your local glass shop. I work at a glass shop and we carry a few thickness of lexan. And usually they will cut it to a block size that you need.

Thanks for the replies. Can I go with any polycarbonate sheet, or is there a specific brand or formula? The stuff at the box stores seems like it would be too brittle.

Doing a bit of searching .030 seems like the popular choice, any tips for bending around radii? Will a simple heat gun get the trick done?

This may be a little late but I was looking for some info on bending lexan...found a GE structural PDF on fabbing lexan sheet.
They stated any radius less than 100x the thickness ie 12.5 inch radius for 1/8 in plate needed to be heat formed. They stated 315f was the temp to use.
I picked up some 040 sheet at the lhs was going to wrap around the exposed half of my motor casings. Was wondering if I could stick the precut sheets on Al foil in the oven at 315 then take out and wrap them?
Need to keep reading..

I havent thought of the foil/oven idea. That may just work. I would keep a very close eye on it though just in case. I usually just bend it by hand unless it's a small piece that I can't bend that way. Most of the time .040 styrene will hold a bend if you work it back and forth a few times in your hands. Gentle heat does the trick (ie lighter, heat gun) so the oven idea may just work. Let us know.

As for sourcing the styrene or lexan, alot of times you can get clear lexan at Hobby Lobby. Short of that and a LHS such as Hobby TOwn USA, etc I buy mine on Ebay.
