Default Question about backing metallic paint

I'm about to paint my first ever body and the color I've chosen is metallic green. When I back it do I need to use a metallic white or just a regular white?

When backing the metallic paint use a solid color. The metallic white(never heard of it) may not be solid enough. You never said what brand paint that you are using.

Kinda depends on what way you want that color to go. With Pactra's old Metallic Green, I could lay down Metallic Black behind it and darken the final color. I once even layed down Pactra Candy Blue before the green and black and ended up with a bit of a flip flop color.

Ok, the Rustler body was a standard Prographix XL5 Rustler body shot in Pactra Metallic Green with a Metallic Black base coat, which made it a much darker shade of green.

This is one of the old Proline Extremeliner shells, didn't turn out as dark of a green as that Rustler did, but still looked good.

This one here, was a head scratcher for some people, it's Pactra Candy Blue, backed by Metallic Green in the hood insets, roof panel, under the belt line, and on the spoiler. The main color is Metallic Black, which also backed the other colors. Even though those areas look like a Blue-Green Metallic here, get on top of the body and see it from different angles and in different light sources, it would flip to a Green-Blue Metallic. Confused the hell out of a friend and former co-worker, as he was trying to figure out what I used tor that particlular paint color

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to use Tamiya paints as that's what my local shop carries. I don't remember the exact name of the paint I want to use.

If you want it dark them back with black, bright then back with solid white, but if you want a little more shimmer the use Tsmiya ps12 silver
