Default Electrical tape stripes?

I'm going to start painting my RC4WD Mojave body soon and wanted to do stripes. However I'm horrible at painting and was wondering if it would bve a good idea to make some stripes out of electrical tape (I want to do orange and yellow stripes) and then put a couple coats of clear on top? If I stick the tape to some glass or a mirror first to cut my stripes before applying it to the body, would it stick well enough, and would the clear coat help seal the stripes to the body?

Thanks!

Search for (1:1) pinstriping tape. All the colors, widths and designs you want.

Don't get cheap on us now. Take the time and spend the coin to do it right. You'll be happy you did in the long run. You could definately clear coat the stripes in once you're done.

Thanks for the suggestions! I don't want to cheap out on this body, but I also don't want to take my time to put down a nice base color and then mess everything up because of the details.

I'm trying to find some yellow and orange 1/8" pinstriping tape. I 1/8th would give a good scale appearance stripe.

Hoosierdady, how long do you like to wait until you pull masking tape off? If you let the paint or clearcoat dry on top of the tape you probably wont get it off, correct?

I would highly suggest staying away from electrical tape. It can leave sticky residue. I'd use painters tape or find some pinstriping tape

Also, some tips for painting. Use very light coats. If you go too heavy, the paint can bleed under the tape and ruin the effect
