I have never tried brazing a cage, but I once bent up a endocage out of steel rod for the inside of the cab and used shoe goo to attach it to the inside of the body. The pillars between the side windows and the windshield is a common place to break, so I ran a length of rod behind each window pillar. I also made supports out of aluminum to keep the lower sides between the wheels from breaking as easily. Cheap and easy.

I don't have the rig anymore and no pictures unfortunately. I basically just used a tubing bender to bend the solid rod as close to the contours of the inside of the cab as I could get. I tried to make as much of it as possible in one piece bent where needed to keep it stronger. From there, just used shoe goo to hold it to the body. Another option would be to reinforce weak points with styrene plastic on the inside of the body. The window pillars is probably the weakest point on most hard bodies. |

If I remember correctly that body is quite thin like a lexan one. Point of that one is to be light....... best way to keep from breaking it is don't flip it. Lol |

Here is how I caged mine... This setup survived the ECSC with plenty of hard roll overs. The truck is heavy but the cage helped save the body. Last edited by drzoo2; 09-16-2015 at 10:19 AM. |

I have epoxied piano wire in the A-pillars and across to front of the roof before. That's all I've had break on my hard bodies so far..
