Easiest way to get camouflage effect
 

I discovered this a couple of weeks ago. I used ketchup and mustard to create a real quick camouflage effect. You can of course also use other sauces.

1 RC body, add BBQ sauce and season well. Cook until nice, crispy, and melted. Serve with a side of chewy Axial plastic.

On a side note though, this reminds me of doing knife patinas with mustard...way easier than cutting all the camo strips seperately though, nice find.

Wow, I would never have thought of that but I'm for sure gonna try it! With the right bottle I'm sure you could get a nice almost "Tiger Camo" ;-)

Never seen yellow and red camo, not sure what you would hide from. Pattern looks nice though. Now I'm hungry, thanks! Now looks like I will be loosing the next hour of my life in a good way..... youtube rabbit hole.

I don't know, but that looks like it's more work than it's worth. I do camo on most of my trucks, and it's just easier painting on the outside.

In Autumn those colors would actually be pretty easy to find outdoors. ;)

I don't see how throwing sauce on lexan and washing it off is a lot of work. For the "hard edged" camouflage, wanting it to be completely random, it doesn't get easier than this I think. Even if you do paint hardbodies from the outside, this trick could pay off.

I think it looks more realistic that way!

I sponge paint the inside of my lexan bodies with orange, gold and brown to look like rust. Then, back it with silver, then black.

Then, I paint the outside with my Camo pattern.
As you run down the trail and scrape it, the outside paint wears through and looks like rusted metal underneath!
Its tough to see it in the pics, but looks really cool in person!:mrgreen:

That's the idea. On my lexan body, I start with Tamiya PS Copper on the inside, first coat. Then I back it with black. First coat on the outside is Tamiya PS Silver. Second color is a flat OD Green or Chalkboard Green, then stripe it with flat black, flat red or brown, maybe tan if you want or I use a different shade of green. As the colors get scraped off, it gives the effect of bare metal (silver), then rust (copper). On the hardbodies it's even easier, 'cause all paint is on the outside.
Let's see, by the video, sprinkle with condiment (maybe 2-3min), spray (2-3 min), wash (maybe 5-8 min). Then it has to dry before you apply anything else, or the condiment will run ( 10-15, maybe 20min, even if you use a cloth or hair dryer), then repeat for every color you want to use. We all can see in the video, by the way it was edited that they skipped a bunch of steps and time. It says 2min04, but that's not how long it actually takes to do this.

No, took me indeed fifteen minutes total. For all colors. Just trying to share some knowledge here, nothing more. Good catch one the editing by the way, one does not simply teleport from a painting booth to a sink like that.
