| Paint for Axial clear light buckets (Rubicon body)
I bought the clear Axial Jeep Rubicon body and it came with the clear light buckets that you glue on the backside of the body that holds the LED. The instructions say to paint them, and im assuming silver or chrome of some kind so the light reflects better. Im wanting my headlights to look as scale as possible. What kind of paint do I use for this? I would hate to buy a whole spray can for just these little lights, but what do you guys do to yours?

For my Yeti, I painted the buckets in the rear light bar and headlights using Tamiya paint - color Chrome Silver - part number is 81511 . It came in a small jar for about $2.00. I used micro brushes from Micro-Mark to hand paint. I also used the same color to paint the radiator on my Yeti.

Does that paint hold up well on polycarbonite bodies? Do you have a pic of yours? |

You guys are talking about two different things. Maxx is talking about painting black plastic parts. The paint he is talking about is not recommended for your polycarbonate buckets. You need to use a lexan/polycarbonate paint. LRP Magic Colour 2 Real Chrome is one option: TowerHobbies.com | LRP US Magic Colour 2 Real Chrome 5.07 oz or you could just use tamiya silver or bright silver in the PS paints.

RCMFMaxxMan - thanks for that little bit of information. I did not know that the Tamiya paint I mentioned shouldn't be used on lexan bodies. I am glad I found this out before I used the stuff to paint my truck body. I have other colors that I have been painting the plastic parts on my yeti....like the radiator is sliver, radiator fan blades are yellow and I painted the fuel cell red. Quote:
