The one coat I believe is for abs, bodies, aka hard bodies. Probably why its flaking off. I have successfuly used brake fluid(dot4) in the past to remove paint off a lexan body.

Pactra makes a product that takes it right off. But it's been over 10 years since I've used it...

Dot 4 brake fluid and 1/2 a day. I've done it 3 or 4 times with perfect results. Takes a little work but if you google it you can find you tube vids. This truck was orange once.

Just a follow-up... If you want paint to stick to a lexan body, you're better off using a lexan-bonding paint like Pactra.

Bought the paint at a local hobby shop i never knew was in my area, the guy was actually painting lexan bodies for customers and said he uses this paint all the time? Figured he was right since he was being paid by customers to paint their bodies

Since I use very expensive brake fluid that idea is out. Don't know why I didn't check Google first but I just did and old nitro fuel and carb and choke cleaner seems to be great at removing paint from lexan bodies. Since i have two gallons of old 20% fuel and tons of carb and choke thats what ill do today. Post back shortly

Be careful with the carb and choke cleaner, it has a tendency to turn the lexan opaque

Yes siree! Use the stuff every day lol. And carburetor cleaner does not get along well with plastic... It has acetone, toluene, and ketone in it. If it wrinkles the paint without etching that lexan, you're one lucky dude.

I was big into nitro trucks for a couple of years and like we all know nitro gets everywhere no matter how clean you keep your ride. I never left nitro fuel on my lexan body but it did het all over them and it never removed the paint...and today the fuel i had left was so old it seperated in the bottle and even after shaking it it did not remove the lacquer paint or bed coating. I also tried carb and choke, this degreaser stuff for my dirtbike and that was a no go either. I tried some DOT 3/4 brake fluid let it sit for five minutes and then tried to rub off the paint and it did nothing! Maybe i gotta let it sit all day i have no idea but the lacquer paint wont budge so i either find something that works, buy this soda blaster ive been wanting, buy a new body, OR do some custom detail add ons to the body and then just paint the lexan on the outside?

I'm telling you bud, Pactra makes this great paint remover stuff... They sell it in a small clear jar, and it will take lexan-bonding paint off the inside of a lexan body with no etching. Like I said, it's been awhile and EPA's probably like "oh no, that stuff causes cancer..." but it was inexpensive and quick and made for what you're trying to do. Like it's sole purpose in life was for taking lexan-bonding paint off of lexan bodies.

...and if nothing else works, painting on the outside would be your next option.

as others have said, you need to let the brake fluid sit for awhile. Five minutes is nowhere near long enough.

If you are in that much of a hurry just scratch it off with light sandpaper

Not sure how it would affect the polycarbonate body, but some laquer thinner from an auto parts store would do the trick. I removed Tamiya laquer paint off my Capos panels with ease using it. Again I would just test it on the plastic to be safe.
