Default Question on painting a body?

I read somewhere that using electrical tape for masking lines on lexan bodies works really well. It's thin and able to stretch to make contoured lines. Has anyone here actually tried using it? It seams like it would work well but I don't want to ruin a body. I've done liquid mask and I just can't seam to cut perfectly straight lines and it ends up looking poorly.

I thought the same thing. But I think if you don't leave it on longer than necessary it may be OK. I just wasn't sure how it would react with the paint. Since the paint is supposed to chemically bond to the body, it seams possible to bond to the tape also since it's a pvc based tape. I kept the original tlt body. Maybe I'll try it on that and I'll post the results.

I used electrical tape to mask the last bronco body I painted (I did a two-tone black and coral blue)
It sticks to lexan well so it won't bleed through.
It stretches to conform to curves well.
It leaves a nice sharp break when removed.
It does'nt leave residue unless it's left on for a long time. If you peel it off the next day you should be fine.
I used Tamiya paint last time, and saw no chemical reaction between the paint and the electrical tape at all.

if you use electrical tape dont try to stretch it to much or it will leave a residue, however if you do get that sicky residue their is this wonderful stuff called "goo gone". it is pure citrus oil and will take off any residue. I use windex to get the "goo gone" off afterward.
