| Rules on Bodies
Sorry for the long post but wanted to make all information hopefully clear. I have the Vaterra Asecnder with K5 body. I want to change to the 72 Chevy C10 body by Proline, but having issue with correct scale size. The 1/10th body is actually too short 10.3" for the Ascender chassis, but the 1/8th body is good at 11.4 wheel base. I did some research and the Chevy K5 Blazer 1/10 scale is much larger than the 1/10 Chevy C10? This doesn't make sense because in real life the C10 is larger than the K5 Blazer. 1986 K5 Blazer Real ... Length-184.8", WB-106.5", Width-79.6" 1/10 Pro-Line ... Length-17.3", WB-11.2", Width-6.8" 1972 C/K10 Short-bed Real ... Length-188.5", WB-115", 1/10 Pro-Line ... Length-15", WB-10.25", Width-6" <-- Not even close to true scale. 1/8 Pro-Line Long-Bed... Length-18.7", WB-12.6, Width-7.1" <-- length is good, but WB is wrong. 1/8 Pro-Line Short Bed ... Length 17.3, WB-11.4", Width-6.8" <-- WB is very good, but length is short. So bottom line none are true to scale, but the 1/8th SB wheel base is the best fit for the Ascender chassis. And the 1/10 is actually too short. But for scale scoring or rules, does it matter if the body is listed as a 1/8th scale body? Wanting to keep in the 1.9 Class 2 "Trail" rules. Last edited by Gene Hobbs; 02-29-2016 at 02:48 PM. |

In the rc body world, scale is not truely scale. Its more about basic overall dimensions, and not about being true to a particular scale. And Vaterra is even different from that in the crawler bodies, by fully covering the wheels/tires, unlike everyone else. -Derek |

Derek is right. There are very few bodies that adhere to the actual "scale" dimensions of the real rig. It truly comes down to what fits your rig and what you like best. As long as it looks scale and meets all the minimum dimension requirements for comp bodies you should be fine.
