Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? I picked up a Axial Powerwagon body at my LHS, after taking the time to prep it for paint and painting I found that the inside of the body busy have been scuffed. The paint job looks less than ok now because of the damage. Anyone else have this issue? I'll post some pics when I can get to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? I had the same problem with mine on the lower part of the body |
Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? That's completley unacceptable considering how expensive that was. |
Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? What did you use to wash it before painting? |

I agree. It's one of the more expensive bodies out there and sadly it may have turned me away from Axial bodies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I used a cotton washcloth and dish soap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? You can scuff a lexan body and not have it show up in the paint so I don't know what is going on here. To me it looks more like a prep issue than a defective body. |
Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? I have to agree with you Jato. Can we get pics of the entire body? |
Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? You should be scuffing the inside of the body with a brillo pad anyway... |
Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? if the body were scarred enough to look like the pic on the right you would have seen them before paint was ever applied. looks like something fell into or against the body before the paint was dry. the picture on the left looks like someone tried to wipe or sand the paint between coats. the dark to light shading comes from not shaking the can between spray passes or uneven coats, happens a lot with metallic paints I've done each to a few bodies in the past |

Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? i know everybody has judged this guy and decided its no fault of axial. I just got a ram power wagon and FC body in the mail today and wanted to come comment on this thread. I do not have pictures right now but should be able to post some monday or tuesday. This are the grungiest brand new bodies i have ever seen hands down. Strands of what i am guessing is protective film around the edges and just cloudy with release or something all over the inside. The QC on these is for sure all about the shape and not about the finish. If you are a new guy and havent painted many bodies or are painting your first one, cover up the windows and take some light scotch bright to it and wash it twice, you will thank me later. |

Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? One Bullet, thanks for the support. I am a newbie to painting body's. On the Basher Slashes I run I usually just get something real simple and be done with it. So am I understanding this correct, I litterally take a Brillo pad to it and paint? Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? I just got a new deadbolt body and there wasn't anything wrong with it. I washed it twice. Scuffed with a scuff pad and the paint turned out fine. |
Re: Axial Bodies damaged from packaging? Yes, I use a 3m automotive red scotch bright and scuff till it is hazy. |

Make sure you cover the window areas and any other area you plan on leaving clear and scuff it all up a bit. You can actually sand the body on the inside and as long as you dont gouges going like halfway through you would never know. Washing afterwards gets rid of the dust and grime. If you want to see it proven take a peice of clear scrap and sand the hell out of it, put paint over the sanding and see how it turns out on the other side."thumbsup" |
