Default Best method for removing old paint from hard body?

What's the best method for removing spray paint? Just pour some thinner on, let it sit for a bit then scrape off and respray?

Paint remover, check if it is safe on plastic first.
Or just sand it and respray.

Brake Fluid works wonders for removing paint from plastic. But like said above, I'd just tape off the windows and paint it on the outside with polycarbonate paint. It will give it a satin finish and be fairly durable still. I've done this a bunch of times and it works well. Any other paint will scratch off super easy, but the polycarbonate paint actually sticks pretty well on the outside.

He is looking for something to do a hardbody not Lexan If you have the time sand it with fine sandpaper, that will remove most of the paint and smooth out any gashes and dings in the plastic. After that shoot it with Primer then your final color coat.

IMO brake fluid. It's a nasty ass process no matter how you do it. Make sure you test it on a small piece first in case it melts the plastic.

I used Brake Fluid on my Toyota Mojave body

It removed a couple layers of paint

But it made the plastic brittle and dull and kinda of pitted it

But it turned out ok cause I wanted it to have the well used look

I added the dents and the rust colored paint in the dents

I've used this before with very good success... provided you're patient.

Testors

It won't harm the plastic either. Can't say I've used it on a hardbody, but it removed old paint from a vintage slot car (soft plastic) and left the substrate clean and undamaged.

I paint styrene and lexan.

DOT3 brake fluid will work well, BUT dont leave Lexan in too long.

91% (NOT 70%) rubbing alcholol , works well on most lacquers an enamels

80/20 Acetone / Water mix.....this is the fastest of all that I have used, WILL not dissolve styrene at this % dilute
