DIY adhesive front decals?

I'm wanting to paint my Yeti body up with the same markings as our local PD. Wondering if anyone has figured out how to make their own adhesive front decals which can be applied to the inside of the body any painted over? Seems this approach would be more durable than decals applied to the outside.
