Default any tips on hard body weathering .. used not abused

Looking for some tips or tricks on weathering my rc4wd blazer, but I don't want it rusted and looking like it's on the way to the junkyard lol. Was thinking more along the lines of a daily driven truck with a little faded clear/paint and some dirt stains type weathering I've seen a bunch of videos and such but those mostly cover the beat down junkyard survivor style, I'm going more for like a couple year old farm truck with some signs of aging but not junkyard camo style lol ... the truck will be a pale yellow with white belt stripe if that matters.. any info is greatly appreciated.

I'm in the process of weathering mine and I'm getting kind of worried that it won't turn out,I'm doing the salt thing and i think i went over board with the salt and i use table salt instead of coarse salt which i should have used .I may have a hard time removing the salt now will see once a sand it down..LOL
But I'm going the opposite of want your looking for mine will have surface rust.

I picked up a bunch of metal shavings below my bench grinder with a magnet. Then I sprayed my truck down with vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. I sprinkled the metal dust shavings on the truck. Re sprayed with vinegar and peroxide and let it sit for 5 minutes. It'll rust really quick. Dry with a hairdryer then clear coat.

Multiple coats of paint and primer, light sanding. You can then use any of the artist chalks or buy some from Tamiya, model master or some that the train and tank guys use. Shave the chalk stick into dust, apply by sprinkling, dusting with a brush or smearing. Coat with matte clear. Repeat as needed, the chalk will fad as the clear is applied so it may take several coats to achieve the look your after, it is a subtle look most of the time.

Believe it or not I have also had good luck using my wife and daughters make up. Just smear it on with the included applicator. Water proof stuff works great and just gets better with age and use.

I find that mixing acrylic paint with water works very well. Some brown and some black in all the cracks and crevices looks awesome in my opinion. And if you don't like it, just scrub it off.

Check out some of the model railroad forums, there's tons of great ideas for weathering techniques in addition to some of the really skilled guys on here that show you how to do it.
