What kind of material is it? I guess it doesn't matter unless it's Lexan. Lightly sand or scuff the material, prime, and paint with whatever color or design you're going to put on. Just remember that the finish color and primer have to be both the same type of paint, i.e. enamel, lacquer, acrylic. You can't put an enamel finish over a lacquer primer and vice versa because the chemical structure of one paint will re-activate the other and bubble the finish. |

Thanks for the info on the chemical structure on the paint, I had no idea and would have probably used the wrong kind. But I did scuff the metal before I put the primer on.
