Original owner painted body with wrong paint...

Just picked up a CC01 with the Bronco body. The original owner painted the body with regular spray paint. It's flaked off pretty bad, and I've actually stripped almost all of it off with duct tape (think masking tape taking lint off a shirt). There is still some paint stuck in spots. Should I try to patina this? Like rusty panels? I'll try to post some pictures.

I'd just strip the rest with brake fluid.
