Default Metallic yellow

Does anyone make a metallic yellow lexan spray paint? I can't seem to find any and am interested in using it for a build. Maybe this explains why I don't see many yellow rigs out there....

Mercedes has an awesome metallic yellow paint option, Solarbeam Yellow. Sadly, it's a $10k option Not sure if you can find a can of spray to match that, there doesn't seem to be a good paint code for it.

Tamiya PS-6 Yellow, i guess. As long as you spray on the inside of the body, the lexan itself will provide a somewhat metallic look.

What if you were to put a couple of thin coats of yellow and then silver underneath? Would the metallic quality of the silver come through? Now I want to experiment...

Pete, that's kind of what I'm thinking. The LHS said yellow metallic looks gold but I've seen yellow metallic on real cars. I'm wondering if the only way to achieve it is to mix paint and airbrush(which I've never used) or try some combo of spray cans. It oils be cool if they made a pure metallic spray that you could lay down and then put whatever color you want behind it.

I'm tempted to dust the lexan with a metallic gold or silver and back it with the ps6 emil posted about. Unless maslin wants to hook me up with a loan and I'll send the body to my local benz dealership!hahaha

That's really funny. I've been cruising airbrush kits on Amazon all week. Thinking of taking the jump.

You might try a Tamiya Translucent Yellow PS-42, backed with Tamiya PS-36 Translucent Silver, then Tamiya PS-41 Bright Silver. Try it first on a test piece so you don't ruin a new body, and make sure each coat has had time to cure, or it will blend.

The yellow on my SCT, is Tamiya PS-6

Thanks mike. I'm working on a test panel right now with some paints I have laying around to see how it looks but I hadn't thought about trying the translucent paints.

That's what I'd test on some scrap lexan.

Ha, I did!!! Got a sparmax compressor and an iwata HP plus. Only used them a little bit so far, but it's already so much better than spray cans.

Thanks Nate, I don't know about hot, but you sure need sunglasses when looking at it outside in the sunlight, makes it easy to spot on the track.

I painted the Promarket Merc DTM touring with clear or transparent Yellow first then followed it with bright metallic silver. Turned out as very nice true metallic color. I have some pics somewhere.
