Default need help with Lexan body painting

I have an Axial Jeep body made from Lexan. I have no issues painting Lexan with Lexan paint.

However... I want to paint it an Olive Drab. And as far as I can tell, no one makes a Lexan paint even close to OD.

Is there a way to successfully use a normal spray paint on a Lexan body?

Can I prime it with a clear Lexan paint (if such a thing exists) and then paint over that with my OD paint?

Does scuffing the body actually work?

My two options that I'm lookin at for the OD green are Model Masters #1911 and Rustoleum OD Camo spray paint.

Thanks guys!!!

lime green with a brown back coat will make drab olive. Test some scraps and you should find something that works for you.

BTW all lexan paint is, is a flexible acrylic paint. There are gobs of olives in acrylics. Hobby lobby, plus 40% off coupon would get you a starter air brush.

Yes there are clear lexan paints, but why clear when you can do a rust under.

All the scuffing in the world will not stop a ridged paint from chipping off, even those that are billed as for plastics.

Believe it or not the .97 cent acrylics at the craft store work just fine, when you hand paint.

Have you checked Tamiya? I think they make the biggest variety of colors in lexan paints.

As long as you use a Polycarbonate paint first on the lexan, and let it dry completely, you can use an enamel paint over the top of it. To get an olive drab to look olive drab (flat), you'll have to paint on the outside, because obviously if you use it on the inside, it will still be glossy, unless that's the look you're after. But, like Ditchrat mentioned, you can use a Tamiya copper or silver, either inside or outside, so that when you scratch the paint on the outside, it'll give the illusion of bare metal or rust exposed under the paint.

I sprayed over the top of my rtr yeti body with plasti dip, worked like a champ!
Also heard people using krylon fusion with good results.

*found where i posted a pic of my plastidip yeti right after i finished. Man it looked good... now? Not so much lol but i can just peel it off and give it another layer!
