Default Paint type?

So I got my 4 runner painted the other day and now I feel like I wanna black out the back side Windows and the back window but I don't have any of the correct type of paint. Think I'll be alright using regular spray paint if I lay it on in real light coats? I'm really happy with the body paint so I don't wanna screw it up with nasty looking Windows haha

Personally I wouldnt use regular spray paint. They make polycarbonate window tint paint made for that. And remember to mask off everything else around the Windows because it will make other light colors darker and won't look good from the outside.

I've tried regular spray paint on my short course trucks before and it was a total waste a time and flaked and peeled off even with light coats

Well shoot I was hoping to not have to order and wait for the paint but I guess I will. That way it looks decent. I do have another question relating to darkening the paint. So I know painting the black behind it will darken it which is actually fine with me. I did a red but in the right light it looks pink. Do you think the black will show through the red too much or will it darken it down enough to get rid of the pink look in the bright light?

I would say it would help, all depends on how dark the red is. It’s worth a shot if your not happy with the color anyway and you will have extra paint left from your windows now

I'm really happy with the red with normal indoor lighting but you get it in the sun and it's just too pink haha I'll give the black behind it a shot. Thanks for the help man!

Lexan body?, any polycarbonate black will work fine for blacking out the windows, just mask off what you don't want painted. I use Tamiya PS-5.

If you're worried about the black darkening the red, back the red with Tamiya PS-12 Silver, before the Black, and don't forget to mask your windows. Afterwards, peel masking from the windows you want blackened, and back the silver and do your windows with the black.

get the "smoke" color for window tint. its more realistic. unless you want totally "limo" tinted black, cant see through it at all.

take your time. ask questions. we will help you.

I already ordered black but I can always use it elsewhere. Is the smoke color in the tamiya brand?
