Default Protecting Lexan Body

I just painted my Jeep Rubicon Unlimited body and noticed the side mount battery tray is lightly rubbing against the interior side of the body, rubbing off the paint. I’ve just added shoe goo to protect from further damage...is there something else I can do to protect the interior? I’m using the Samix aluminum battery tray on the SCX10 chassis.

Thanks

Put tape on the inside where it's rubbing. I use packaging tape on the inside of my Traxxas Slash where the tires rub when the suspension bottoms out. Although because it's metal rubbing, it might be better to use some double sided tape because it's thicker. Or you could just trim the part of the battery tray that's rubbing if that's possible.

Thanks. Might try some thicker tape on top of the shoe goo. Unfortunately I cannot trim the aluminum.

Why not try some servo tape ( double sideded foam tape) on the inside of the body in the affected area. Would stick to the body and leave the film on the other side so it has a smooth surface the glide across battery tray. Just a thought.

I sprayed bedliner in my body. Holding up ok but i had a similar issue. Was just rubbing the bedliner, paint is fine but i put some aluminum tape to see if that helps. If it gets through that, i will use drywall tape adhered with shoe goo.

2 layers of clear packing tape. Still light but durable. Servo tape is a bad idea unless you are going to put something over it. The slippery protective tape that is on it is not meant to stay there and will eventually come off revealing the glue side. Everything will stick to it, dirt , grass, etc. Black electrical tape works well as long as it doesnt show through the paint. Gorrilla tape or duct tape is ok but again it may show through the paint

I use Aluminum tape on all my go fast stuff where they tires might rub. Works great. Might still rub through in your case though since the battery tray is Al.
