Default Where to get styrene?

Where is the best place to get styrene for a reasonable price I'm looking to do a scratch build but not wanting to spend an arm and a leg to do so, thanks!

Look around for a local plastics supplier like Acme Plastics. You can get 48"X96" sheets pretty economically. They'll cut it down for you as well. Then you'll be set to build about 10 trucks, a trailer, a garage and anything else you can imagine.

A few weeks ago i wnt to the michaels about a mile from my house, asked where they have styrene. The wut? Styrene. Uhhhh wussat? Plastic sheets for building stuff.
She got on the raadio.
We have any... wuts it called again? Styrene?

You get the jist... they had no clue and eventually figured out they dont sell it. So... not at michaels.
My lhs had zero also.
Hobby lobby i will try soon and report back.

Buying online sucks because seing it in person its way easier to know what you need.

I go got Tap Plastics. https://www.tapplastics.com/product/...igh_impact/560

I have stores locally, and they cut to size.

Look for a hobby shop that caters to model train fans. They often have a good selection.

Hobby Lobby is not a hobby shop. It is a place old ladies can go and get junkeration so they can pretend they are on HGTV.

yeah but they have tons of other "hobby" scratch building stuff. i have no clue why they wouldn't have styrene.
hmm? the website says... https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Ho...--.030/p/97972

i'll stop by the one nearest my house (not as close as michaels but still only 10 min) and see if they have any.

Try Plastruct https://plastruct.com/

Top of the page, click on Distribution, then U.S. Dealers, then scroll down to your state, and they give you a listing for all the hobby shops and stores that sell their product. Might scroll down the home page too, when you find a location, as they sell many types of styrene products

If you can't find actual styrene sheets you could always get a styrene substitute. If you go by your local Lowes or Home Depot and go to the For Sale sign section they have tons of styrene signs in different sizes and thickness. That's what I do because the only hobby shop that sells styrene is almost 2hrs away from my home.

All Hobbytowns, Michael's, and Hobby Lobby's sell sheet styrene, I haven't walked into one that hasn't. Hobby shops that carry/specialize in model railroads will always have sheet and piece styrene, usually from Plastruct or Evergreen. Don't ask until you've looked through the store yourself, half/most of these kids that work there don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. And I've met a few owners that don't know what they have in their stores, especially ones that buy a store fully stocked.

Plastruct: https://plastruct.com/

Evergreen Models: https://evergreenscalemodels.com/

Both of these products are easy to spot in the above stores, once you know what your looking for, they can usually be found where the brass tubing, threaded rod, or hobby tools ( like X-Acto) are displayed.

Old school hobby tip:

Nearly all refrigerators are lined in styrene.
Big giant nice structural thick styrene for FREE!!!!

Local dump/transfer station or salvage yard, or even maybe the one outbon corner of garage that died years ago and now being used to hold junk.
Slice the sides and back out of them... free free FREE STYRENE!

Also for sale and yard sale signs in your local hardware store.

Even many of the old VHS tape cases are a great place to grab smaller sized pieces.
