Default Any tips for cutting door jam lines in mask?

So I'm about to paint a body. I've sprayed my liquid mask and it's drying overnight. I would really like to cut the door lines so I can paint them black. Any tips and tricks on doing this? Thanks.

Do the door lines on the outside with a Sharpie fine tip permanent black marker

I agree. I too was planning on masking/painting the body lines on the interior but opted for the fine tip sharpie. Worked very well!

I THIRD the fine line Sharpie technique. It's simple to do and easy to touch up as the lines fade. I think the problem with masking for them is that the lines are going to be so fine, it's going to be nearly impossible to get a good accurate mask, particularly around compound corners and curves. Then, assuming you were able to get them masked, there's always the dreaded paint bleed on top of that.

after paint I use a small amount of black wash on the body lines; gives a nice subtle detail that doesn't overpower like a perfect black line.

In this scenario, is your body color paint inside or outside?

I paint on the outside but would like to add the body seams effect, without overpowering as you describe.

If you sprayed, make sure to use at least 2-3 layers.

more = better when it comes to liquid mask. Too thin and you won't be able to peal it off.

I posted the below in the weathering sticky at top of the page, but not sure how much traffic that sees, so pasting below in this active discussion........

I ordered the exact black paint as in OP’s initial post. Want to black wash a lexan body to get door / body seam lines effect.

Can someone confirm I am on the right track?

Also, would lightly scoring the seams with a razor blade or small awl help the effect?

If you are of steady hand, I'd think a light scoring of the lines would definitely be beneficial.

My impression is that on many lexan bodies the body lines simply aren't deep enough to accept washes. I use a permanent marker, and if I miss the line, use alcohol and a cotton bud to remove it quickly. This seems to work okay.
(but I'm a novice and crap at painting, so I really shouldn't give advice).

@tjohanne - agreed! Thin line black Sharpie and mistakes or outside the lines are easily remedied with isopropyl alcohol wipe.
