I showed my 7y.o. son this picture last month and he said "That's it. I know what I'm saving up for." Well, today his RC4WD Tacoma body and a can of Tamiya Brilliant Blue showed up. We're still undecided on which of our tires will go on it, but I kinda dig the mostly outside the fender look with this body so his 4.75"s may stay.

The tires in that picture are 4.19 klr's for reference. 4.75 might be a Tad big but I wouldn't be apposed to seeing how it looks

Can somebody who owns one measure the width at the bottom of the doors. I see online the measurements but sometimes they measure the widest point which is usually mid door.

anyone remember the rc4wd "T-runner" body? they need to bring it back it was WAY ahead of its time( lexan with ABS parts for realism), and i dont think sold well
at one time i had 4 of them NIB. was very well purportioned.

I've since shortened the shocks 10mm, but it is still very much " TakeOffYourOversizeTiresAsshole" My son is finally in agreement that it needs smaller tires, but I doubt he'll want any smaller than a 4.19. Still, between smaller tires and shorter shocks, it could come down 1/2-3/4".

Now that these have been out for a while does anyone care to comment on the durability of this body? Being rc4wd I'm skeptical. It certainly looks the part, but how does it hold up. Is the lexan brittle, have thin spots, or spots prone to cracking?

Besides the mirrors breaking, my 9 y.o. son's is holding up well, despite being driven by a 9 y.o. In all fairness, we put rubber mirrors on and he peeled those off too. The narrower body means less/smaller flat surfaces to flex, and the body lines are radiused enough to reduce breaks that typically happen at square corners. Even the plastic grille and rear bumper are still kickin'.

He finally got 4.19" KM3's for it along with SSD Contender wheels, the RC4WD led light kit, and RC4WD Aisin hubs. It's looking more 'Yota-esque everyday. Still need to find a 1/2 interior (to clear his AX2) that fits well and some 80mm shocks ought to finish off the look.

Curious about something. If you are skeptical of RC4WD bodies, then what non-Lexan bodies would you recommend (especially for a Toyota-based body)? I'm just getting into crawlers (coming from off-road race vehicles), and have decided on the Vanquish VS4-10 Pro as my next chassis. My current "top pick" is the Mojave II boost from RC4WD...but, now I'm starting to wonder.

As I have no intentions of chopping the chassis down, or modifying it in any major way, I need to stick with a 313mm wheelbase body. As mentioned, above, I also want to stick with a Toyota-based body. While Lexan bodies are lighter, they also don't have the detail that "hard plastic" bodies have.
So...suggestions?

This thread is about the lexan RC4WD Toyota Tacoma body.

It is known to be thinner and somewhat more delicate than (for example) most Pro-Line bodies.

RC4WD styrene bodies are a whole other ballgame... and fodder for another thread entirely.

(not exactly sure what "the Mojave II boost" is, I'm assuming "boost" is a typo for "body"?)

Yes, meant "body", not "body". And, yes, I understand what this thread is "about"...I was just inquiring as to meatmonkey's preferences on "hard plastic" bodies, since he is the one who said he is "skeptical" of RC4WD bodies. Besides, there's nothing wrong with asking a question in any particular thread if someone else mentions something. It was a simple question, asking for a simple answer...nothing more, morning less.
