Is it possible to combine candy and chrome??

I would think that a candy blue with a chrome effect would look really cool.

Is it possible? and how would it be done?

I was thinking laying down the candy , then the chrome , but then what backer do I use ?

I have done chrome and it was backed with black.

That should work on lexan. Not sure about a hard body. Make sure the candy has cured completely and back it with black. I would try it on a scrap piece first, to make sure your chrome is compatible with the candy paint.

That affect is possible with lexan. Spray your candy color then the chrome and finally back with black. Lots of light coats with the candy and chrome paint will net great results. Warming the can with some warm water helps also.

bit more research on other forum sites revealed that it is backed with a high gloss black

Hm, this really depends on the look you're going for. "Chrome" is generally backed with black. In the Createx line a glossy black to make sure you get the best shine. What you are talking about they basically refer to as a "anodized" look. Dpending on the depth and look you are going for you can (if using the Createx stuff) either mix the candy with the chrome paint and maintain the same color no matter how many layers, or lay on layers of candy, backed by chrome, backed by glossy black. That will allow you to attain a deeper darker blue. As mentioned spray out some test panels before hand to get a better idea of the looms you can attain.

Here are some test pieces I did to get an idea of what colors looked like.

With that said I think the golden question is:
Do you have an airbrush?

It really depends on what paint you are using. If you are using spazstix then up will have to use the mirror clear coat between the candy and chrome or it will tune more silver and the same goes for the backer. With spazstix, the only paint that will not turn it is a waterbased paint.

No airbrush, I did purchase an inexpensive one and did do one body with it. The results were pretty good for a first timer after practicing for about an hour to get the basic hang of things.

I am no artist and the airbrush is a tool best left to the artists. I do fine with a rattle can and some basic masking.

Spaz Stix would be my paint of choice for this one.

I'm thinking a candy/chrome blue with a bright yellow for accents on a T Maxx Classic body, and the holographic with something for my X Maxx body.
Just have to figure out what color the 'something' will be.
