What paint for interior I'm looking at painting a DinkyRC interior that I have. Wondering what kind of paint to use for it. Not sure if I should be using lexan paint or plastic paint since I think it's styrene but not sure. |
Re: What paint for interior I would use the paints meant for Polystyrene, Tamiya calls them PS or just regular hardware store paint. Lexan is really the only material that requires a specific paint. EDIT:dang it I got that backwards as Mike Flea mentioned you'd be after the Tamiya TS paints, sorry I wasn't thinking |
Re: What paint for interior I agree with Humboldt. The PS paints won't cause nasty side effects with the PS interior. Plus, they tend to be able to flex a bit like paints for lexan. |
Re: What paint for interior Thanks guys appreciate the help. Seems that my options are alot broader with the interior as opposed to the lexan body. I think I might want to hand brush the interior since masking the tiny curves and seams on the seats might be difficult to get a tight seal on. |
Re: What paint for interior When I painted mine I used the cheap spray paint from Walmart. It came out great. I have better luck with the cheap paint than the expensive stuff listed as "for plastic." |

Re: What paint for interior Tamiya PS paints are for lexan, TS for styrene. My advice is test the PS on the styrene if you've purchased already, TS flakes on lexan, doesn't flex with the plastic, I learned the hard way. |
Re: What paint for interior I've accidentally used tamiya ps paint on styrene and it melted it. Big mistake. I would stick with tamiya ts paint. |
Re: What paint for interior Taking notes here for my sons blazer body... Wouldnt brushing the whole thing leave brush lines? I mean, unless you do super light coats and you are super patient. I think spraying would be better. Then go in with a brush for fine details. Am I wrong? |
Re: What paint for interior Awe shoot I got that backwards sorry, you'd want TS not PS (or you can use hardware store paint) |
Re: What paint for interior Do you have a tabletop games shop nearby? Citadel paints are my favorite for painting interiors and details. Water-based for easy cleanup and no smell, short drying times and many available colors and effects. Don't bother with their expensive other tools. |
Re: What paint for interior Zanthrax, what do you use to protect the paint afterwards? |
