Real Rust Paint I just stumbled across this at the hardware store. https://i.imgur.com/eKzH0Ygl.jpg at first I cheaped out thinking I wouldn't need the activator and I could use vinegar but that didnt work, the activator is much needed. This took maybe 2 hours mostly in dry time. Re: Real Rust Paint I use a product called Sophisticated Finishes. It works the same way. Iron infused paint coupled with an activator. Works great! |

I have Sophisticated Finishes, but it would be awesome to find something local. I'm surprised vinegar didn't work for you. It seems to work for others that use Sophisticated Finishes. I got mine from Dick Blick (what a name! :ror:). I believe they often have coupons, but nothing like Michael's, etc. https://www.dickblick.com/items/27105-1009/ |
Re: Real Rust Paint I found it at a local Ace Hardware, they had merged with a local paint store so they might have had a few more specialty items than usual. I figured this would be old news to a lot of folks but I didn't see a thread dedicated to it so I thought it was worth posting up. Now I just need to hone my skills so I can apply this more sparingly (a better brush should help a ton). |
