Default Has anyone tried the print your own decals paper?

I saw it on one of the main RC parts websites. I guess you can make your own decals and print them off your own printer at home with this special paper. Anyone know what I am talking about and tried it? Just wondering how good the quality is? I get the sharpness of the pictures will be how good your printer is, but how does it hold up, pros and cons?

Testors used to sale a kit like that back in the 90's to make your own decals for scale models. Is that one for vinyl or waterslide?

I don't remember. There were a few different choices. I can try and find it again and post a link. Are we aloud to post links?

Get the correct type of decal paper on eBay and you can print your own with most home printers.

Testors decal paper was a waterslide film that prints through a laser printer. I still have some. Worked pretty well but I bought an ALPS 5000 printer just for my scale aircraft models.

This is what I use for laser printed decals.

I wouldn't want that. Its just wateride decals. I'm actually surprised that old print set is around.

That may be or may not be what I saw.. I'll look for it and post it. Might be until later sat when I have time to look.

I was just thinking about water decals the other day. I remember them from 20 years ago when I used to build models (Revell and such). They were thinner and less obvious than vinyl stickers. I'm guessing they're not waterproof?

Water-slide decals can be water proof if you spray clear over-top of them. I have used them for years making decals for my kids Pinewood Derby cars. I also made a license plate decal for my Silverado build with them. This is clear coated and has seen a lot of water.

3 years later....A little scuffed but has survived a lot of creeks

And in reality, that's about what a plate would look like after it's been beaten to death on the trails.

If you're looking for personalized license plates, send a PM to Krawler Konceptz
