Is Bob Dively Liquid mask really the bees knees?

I want some thoughts from the bench experts here. I'm about to start work on a few new bright bodies and No way my tape skills are gonna cut it when it comes to all the detail stuff. Is this Bob Dively stuff really up to the task? Act basically as overspray film that's just peelable? Give me your thoughts and experiences from real world use.

nobody here used it? Good result or bad?

I've used it. It works great. I don't use it often though because for 99% of the bodies I paint, tape is quicker and it's easier to make straight lines with.

I'll be using it to mask new bright raptor body. The grill, Tailgate, hood riser, etc. You see any issue in the future getting it to peel? or have you had any issue on hardbodies?

I have not personally used it, but it's commonly used for complex paint jobs - there are some good youtube vids you might want to check out.
Below is a body done by a 'pro' painter here locally, he uses masks exclusively. He did say it's extremely difficult to cut out for cursive type lettering though.
I thought this was a killer paint job on a buddy's rig:

The guy that paints my bodies uses Fasmask from Parma. Seems to work great for him.

Ive used it many times, but sadly can't seem to find it currently. Bitty Design seems to be it now.
When I first started using it I brushed on 4 coats, waited forever for it to dry. I then started spraying it with a touch up gun, 3 coats dry in 4 hours, and even. I never had peel or lifting issues with it, one trick is to imbed a small strand of thread in those small spots, allows you to pull that small section after cutting

Dively and fasmask are toast, that AMain link will get you to bitty design. It’s all the same idea, I still have the last of divelys. I liked it as it went on blue, clears when dry

My painter orders Fasmask directly from Parma.

Yup, That is the only place for any Parma products. I went to order 7 or 8 bottles of my favorite Faskolors and the shipping was $17.00 (a third of the order price) I passed and shot the rig with Tamiya.

From what I understand a messy divorce was the reason for Parma to almost disappear sadly.:cry:

I am going to give Liquid Mask a whack. I have a touch up gun & just bought Bitty Design mask. Did you need to thin any to spray?
The thread idea is great. Thank you! 8)

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Most people I see brush it on.

Re: Is Bob Dively Liquid mask really the bees knees?

I ordered a 16oz bottle of Dively mask I found. I'll post up my results. I intend to brush it over the new bright raptor body areas I want to keep unpainted, like the grill and tailgate skin, as well as the hood scoop area and door handles. Trim after the mask dries and then spray the body. Time will tell how it does.

When I started using Bob Dively Mask I lathered it on as most do. Took the full 24 hours to dry clear with blue globs in corners. That’s when I Tried my airbrush , it thinned with water and was ok....... I thought it was thick and a painter buddy lent me a touch up gun. Straight spray at 25psi, each coat was even and dried clear in 35 minutes or less, i did 4 coats and that was perfect. You have to have a clean surface for it to stick properly, and a new blade to trim. It’s also great to touch up the outside film if torn.

I still don't understand how you guys cut masking, tape or liquid, without scarring Lexan. I can't do it even when the blade is new.

Thank you!!
I have a few bodies needing painting, have you experienced any issues with the amount of time the mask is left on? For ease of cleanup I would like to liquid mask all of them at once... but obviously can't paint them all at once.

I see my self getting to the last one a least a few weeks after I start the first.

Take the blade out of the handle and wrap some tape around as a grip.....Sorta like a pinstripers dagger brush. Then you float the new blade on the surface, when it tears instead of cutting change your blade. One advantage of liquid mask is much less blade wear vs tamiya tape.
