Default Backer for orange?

Howdy, if a guy like me, paints a lexan body like mine with Duratrax orange, what would be a good backer color to make it really pop?

I'd go with white.

I'd back with a couple light white coats and let it dry... then back it all with silver.

I backed this with 3 coats of white, then pulled off window masks & 2 coats black, let dry completely between coats

Default Backer for orange?

For the brightest use white, for a bit less use yellow. If you want more then use Flourescent Orange.

Silver, Gold, Copper , or Black will give you different tones, Silver is usually used as a barrier after the backer.

If you look at the scout you will see the difference in oranges, I used three different ones for the fade

Impressive paint jobs!
I’m actually tossed up between a real deep orange and a bright one, time to make some test pieces!

Use your scraps that you get from trimming. I must have 40 or more test strips with different backers and combinations, remember to mark it with a sharpie after peeling the film

Those were fun to shoot, a lot of Parma Faskolor paints there!

I just finished this up tonight, 2 full cans of Tamiya PS7 orange, 2 coats of white, 2 coats of Spazstix chrome, 3 coats of black, 1 coat of red (just for the tail lights) and 2 more coats of black. Yes, the body pretty much doubled in weight!

I'm no pro, if I'm honest, I don't even enjoy painting as it makes me tense! This one took me 4 days start to finish, largely due to having to hand cut my own masks (except the side stripes which a friend graciously cut for me) but I'm happy with how it turned out. The orange with white backer is a near perfect match to the real deal. I just need to print some "Demon 340" decals and it'll look just like my dad's restored '71 Demon, the same car that he brought me home from the hospital in! This is going on my 8 year olds Slash with street tires.
