Default Rusting Chain

Trying to add some scale realism.

Picked up a Yeah Racing chain that has perfectly cherry red hooks and shiny chain links. Any tips for rapid rusting a chain?

White vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and salt. It will rust literally anything so be careful when using it. Rinse when done and clear coat once dry. Patinas copper as well.

You can also find rust paints, its basically iron in the paint with an activator. This stuff works extremely fast https://www.amazon.com/s?k=rust+fini...l_51eepizxj7_b

I had the same Yeah Racing chain and hook. Way to shiny
I did some scratching (rocks and sanding paper) and weathered them with paint (dark brown, matte black and red primer):

Btw, the chassis of the Mog is also painted matte black and a light uneven coat of red primer.

Vinegar works wonders for fast rusting.
