tips on cutting odd shaped decals?

EVERY search I do yields tutorials on cutting square decals of different sizes, not shapes...

How does everyone cut larger decals (i.e. for side of truck) where letters and/or shapes run off the main body of the decal leaving large areas of clear decal with no colored edges? (which would create the "shadow" from the thickness of the decal sheet)

Do you cut up to the shape no matter how thin it gets?

Depends on my mood . Bright light, laid out on glass, I buy my #11 blades in bulk for a reason. I found a clear plastic angle protractor works great for cuts

I didn’t think about cutting on a glass surface... I’ve been using a cutting mat and light pressure barely scored the decal sheet. So all I was doing was throwing out blades and pulling my decals at the same time.

Do you cut out any borderless clear part of the decal sheet? Meaning where it’s not surrounded by graphics?

I usually try to cut right and tight.
If I can. Some decals or stickers are next to impossible to cut neatly.

Those I will try to make look like a sticker with an even clear border.

I’ve removed more than I’ve kept over the years
